Azerbaijan Future Studies Society was represented at the international conference

On June 13-14, 2024, the 24th international conference "The Future of Natural Resources" was held in the Finnish city of Turku. It was organized by the Finnish Futures Research Centre, the Finnish Academy for the Future, and the Natural Resources Institute Finland.
The international conference was aimed at creating interdisciplinary, stimulating and critical discussions on the future of natural resources.
Azerbaijan was represented at the conference by the Chairperson of the Azerbaijan Future Studies Society, PhD Reyhan Huseynova.
At the conference, Reyhan Huseynova made a report on "The Role of Green Energy in Reducing the Use of Natural Resources in Applicability to Azerbaijan". In her speech, Ms. Huseynova emphasized that - "In the "National Priorities of Socio-Economic Development: Azerbaijan 2030", "green economy" is defined as one of the five important areas of the country's development." It was also noted that “in 2023, Azerbaijan fully restored its sovereignty and territorial integrity, thereby fulfilling 4 UN Security Council resolutions demanding the withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the internationally recognized territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan... The Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions liberated from occupation are being restored in accordance with the Green Energy Zone concept on the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev, and the most modern technologies and concepts are being introduced in these territories, including smart village, smart city, smart agriculture and green energy.” The participants of the international conference were also provided with information about COP29, which will be held in Baku in November 2024. The international forum at the University of Turku brought together leading experts and scientists in the field of strategic analysis and forecasting from around the world.
