The conference “Digital Azerbaijan-2025” was held at the Azerbaijan Technical University
On December 15, 2017, the conference “Digital Azerbaijan-2025” was held at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU).
Opening the conference, Vice-Rector for Science and Technology of the Azerbaijan Technical University, Professor Ilham Pirmamedov noted that the main goal of the conference is to determine the prospects for the development of the ICT sector in Azerbaijan by 2025. I.Pirmamedov in his speech also touched upon the importance of education for the creation of innovations and new technologies.
Then the floor was given to the Chairman of the Azerbaijan Futures Studies Society - Node of the Millenium Project Azerbaijan, Doctor of Philosophy Reyhan Huseynova. In her speech, R. Huseynova spoke about the work done in recent years to develop the ICT sector in Azerbaijan. Particularly noted was the signing by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev of the Decree “On approval of strategic road maps for the national economy and main sectors of the economy.”
The speech also highlighted that the strategic roadmaps include an economic development strategy and action plan for 2016-2020, a long-term vision for the period up to 2025 and a review of goals for the period after 2025. The implementation of these maps will ensure the stable development of Azerbaijan in the future.
The director of the Millennium Project, Jerome Glenn, joined the conference online. In his speech, he spoke about global trends in the field of ICT.
Jerome Glenn noted that research in the field of ICT in Azerbaijan is very important for the development of the country. At the end of his speech, the director of the Millennium Project noted that today there is a great need for ideas and innovations that would give impetus to the stable development of the world.
Then the conference continued with a speech by the executive director of the State Fund for the Development of Information Technologies of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, Elchin Zeynalov. In his speech, he touched upon the topic of development of high technologies in Azerbaijan by 2025. E. Zeynalov also noted that the activities of the Information Technology Development Fund, which he heads, are transparent and the doors of the fund are open to any citizen of Azerbaijan.
Then, Farid Ismailzadeh, a member of the council of experts of the Azerbaijan Future Research Society, Chairman of the Board of GoldenPay, spoke to the conference participants. In his speech, he touched upon the issue of technology startup culture in Azerbaijan and spoke about his experience in bringing technology projects to the international level.
Then the conference continued with a speech by the head of the department of “Multichannel Telecommunication Systems” of the Azerbaijan Technical University, Mehman Hasanov, who in his speech touched upon the issue of the development of multimedia optical networks in Azerbaijan.
At the end, the head of the Department of Information Technologies and Programming at the Azerbaijan Technical University, Zafar Jafarov, addressed the conference participants. He touched upon the topic of the development of digital culture in society.
