MP Planning Committee Meetings

On June 1-5, 2013 The Annual Millennium Project Committee Meeting and Baku Futures Forum were held in Baku, Azerbaijan.In the framework of meeting there took part the director of the Millennium Project Jerome Glenn and the Nodes of Azerbaijan, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Central Europe, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, Iran,Poland, Russia, Kenya, Spain, China, Korea, Egypt, Uruguay, Montenegro, Israel, Brazil, South Africa, Slovenia, Belgium, Silicon Valley and also Cyber Node. During 2 days sessions there were review of previous works and the reports of Nodes participated at the meeting.

The chairwoman of Azerbaijan Future Studies Society (AFSS) and MP Node Reyhan Huseynova had participated on July 26-29, 2012 at the annual conference of Millennium Project, she had also taken part at the annual conference of World Future Society in Toronto, Canada, where were the eminent worldwide futurists. It is the third year she took part in such conferences as the Node of MP.

The presentation of Azerbaijan was made by young member of the Azerbaijan Future Studies Society Shahriyar Hasanverdiyev at the annual conference of the Millennium Project in Vancouver, Canada on 6-8 July.Sh. Hasanverdiyev is a student of the group of gifted students of the international economic relations department of Azerbaijan State Economic University, an active participant in a special course for future research "Azerbaijan Foresight", carried out in English at the Azerbaijan State Economic University in a format of online video conference, which is a joint project by the Azerbaijan State Economic University, Millennium Project and the Millennium Project Office in Azerbaijan - Azerbaijan Society of Futurists, the winner of the third republican essay contest "Face to face with the future generations", which is a joint project by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Education Ministry, Youth and Sports Ministry, State Committee for Family, Women and Children’s Affairs and Azerbaijan Society of Futurists.

Mrs. Reyhan Huseynova, the chairman of the Future Studies Society, attended the annual reporting conference of the Millennium Project (www.millennium-project.org) conducted in Boston, MA. The chairmen of the Mexican and Russian Nodes talked about projects implemented jointly with the Azerbaijan Future Studies Society and placed special priority on Azerbaijan during their presentations.
In her speech Reyhan Huseynova mentioned activities organized by society. At this year's conference participated Nodes of Millennium Project from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, central Europe, Finland, Germany, Turkey, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Russia, China , India, Japan, Korean, Kuwait, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, also chiefs of UNESCO, Rockefeller Fund, Con Fittipaldi from Arlington and Virginia's Military Ecology Institute and representatives of other international organizations. Azerbaijan Future Studies Society took part in the workshop of the Planning Committee on Millennium Project in the capacity of department of Millennium Project, which took place from 15 to 17 July of the current year in Chicago, USA. Azerbaijan was represented for the first time in this conference, which is the annual report workshop for all Millennium Project Nodes around the world, which is held since 1996 (totally32). During her speech at the conference, chairperson of the Azerbaijan Node of Millennium Project, head of Azerbaijan Future Studies Society Reyhan Huseynova noted the work done by Future Studies Society from its foundation in 2006, and told about tendencies of development of Azerbaijan within globalization, world financial crisis, and demand for oil. This year the conference was attended by the representatives of departments from Argentine, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Central Europe, Finland, Germany, Turkey, Great Britain, Russia, China, India, Japan, Korea, South Africa, New Zealand, USA, and also many representatives of international organizations. In the capacity of guests of honor were Ambassador John McDonald, President of the Multilateral Diplomacy Institution (on Conflict Studies issues), Washington, D.C., and John Fittipaldi from Army Institute on Ecological Policy, Arlington, Virginia, USA.It is remarkable, that several reports were given through the internet network Second Life (particularly reports of the Nodes from Belgium and Bolivia).In whole according to the results of the conference, high growth dynamics of future studies in developing countries was mentioned, national strategies were paid more attention, Millennium Project Nodes accelerate their work in development of national State of the Future Index, and however, Global Problems demand more thorough incorporation into long-term strategies of the development of future.
