Azerbaijan`s Embassy to US hosts reception for participants of NATO`s conference

A meeting with the participants of the NATO Advanced Scientific Research Conference was held at the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the United States.

According to the information provided to Trend by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the USA, on July 24 of the current year, in honor of the participants of the NATO Advanced Scientific Research Conference jointly organized by the "Millennium Project" and NATO, which unites a number of influential NGOs from different countries, at the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the USA a feast was given. For your information, we would like to inform you that this Conference, which will last for 3 days, was started with the mentioned event of Azerbaijan.

It should be noted that the NGOs participating in the "Millennium Project" mainly consist of well-known scientists, analysts and experts and implement joint programs with a number of prestigious international organizations. The current Conference is being held on the highly topical theme of "Identifying and Countering Potential Terrorists - Emerging Technologies and New Counter-Terrorism Strategies."

During the event, the counselor of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the USA, Mammad Talibov, who greeted the guests, noted the importance of the mentioned conference and spoke about the contribution of our country in the fight against terrorism and the steps taken in Azerbaijan in this field. He stated that Azerbaijan is always the leading force of development and advanced thinking in the region, and emphasized that the first democratic republic in the east was established in our country in 1918 and equal rights were given to every citizen regardless of religion, ethnic identity and gender. M. Talibov spoke about the large-scale economic projects implemented under the leadership of Azerbaijan in the years of independence and noted that those projects brought new realities to the region. He also spoke about the Southern Gas Corridor project, which is about to be implemented, and said that thanks to the project, the Caucasus region will establish direct contact with Europe. At the same time, M. Talibov informed about the Armenian-Azerbaijani, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and emphasized that 20% of the territory of our country is under the occupation of the Armenian side and that it continues to be the biggest threat to the region.

Jerome Glen, director of the "Millennium Project", gave a speech and gave detailed information about the mentioned project. He expressed his gratitude to the Azerbaijani side for the attention given to the event, remembered his visit to our country in 2013 and the meeting with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and shared his good impressions about that visit.

Yair Sharan, a participant of the conference from Israel, made a speech and stated that he visited our country 3 years ago, that there are close friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Israel, and officially welcomed the first day of the NATO Advanced Scientific Research Conference, which will last from July 24 to 27, at the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the United States. He noted that the beginning is a happy thing.

At the end, Reyhan Huseynova, one of the active participants of the "Millennium Project", the founder and head of the Azerbaijan Futurist Society, spoke about the activity of the NGO she leads, the "Millennium Project" and also the work done in this framework, the attention of the country's leadership to this field.

It should be noted that the guests received the information about Azerbaijan with great interest during the event and expressed their gratitude for the attention our country showed them.

It should be recalled that the participants of the "Millennium Project" visited our country in 2013 to participate in the Baku Future Forum organized on the theme "The next big steps for the future of Azerbaijan: Azerbaijan's post-oil economy".
